What is the Carry-on Baggage Allowance for Air France?

Depending on the cabin you are traveling in, there may be weight limitations as per Air France carry-on baggage policy.

• 1 handbag and 1 personal item are allowed in the economy cabin.
• You may bring 2 handbags and 1 personal item if you are traveling in a Premium Economy, Business, or La Première cabin.
• Air France pet travel in the cabin would be counted as carry-on luggage.

Hand baggage weight allowance varies with the class of service and does not go beyond 18 kg.

• Air France check-in baggage and personal items cannot weigh more than 12 kilograms (26.4 lb) if you are flying in the economy category.
• The total weight of your hand luggage and accessories cannot be more than 18 kg (40 lb) if you are flying in a Premium Economy, Business, or La Première cabin.

Carry-on Baggage Dimensions

Baggage dimensions are a must to follow because of the limited space provided in the airlines to keep your luggage, which includes:

• Your hand luggage can fit in a space no larger than 55 x 35 x 25 cm (21.6 x 13.7 x 9.8 in) (including pockets, wheels, and handles).
• Prior to boarding, baggage checks will be required. Your hand luggage will need to go in the hold if it doesn’t fit these requirements.

What are Authorized Personal Items on Air France?

Air France baggage policy offers adequate space for personal items.

• You are permitted to carry one personal item in addition to your hand luggage. The maximum size must be within 40 x 30 x 15 cm / 15.7 x 11.8 x 5.8 in.
• You may bring:
  • 1 bag
  • or satchel,
  • or 1 bag for your computer, camera, or any other electronic device.

• Unless you are seated in an exit row, you must put your personal item in the seat in front of you. Your personal item must be kept in the overhead bin if you are seated in an exit row.

Items Allowed as Personal Items- Air France baggage allowance for personal items includes liquids, pastes, and creams to be carried into the cabin under the following circumstances:

• Each container cannot hold more than 100 ml (3.4 oz) and must be packed in a clear, unopened plastic bag.
• Your plastic bag may hold no more than one liter.
• The plastic bag can only be 20 × 20 cm (7.8 x 7.8 in) in size.

NOTE: Please be aware that each person is only permitted one plastic bag. Some liquids may be brought on board without any limitations (baby food, medication, etc.).

What is the Check-in Baggage Allowance for Air France?

The Air France checked baggage allowance varies depending on the fare class and destination. In general, economy class passengers are allowed 1 piece of checked baggage up to 23 kg (50 lbs) on flights within Europe, and up to 2 pieces of checked baggage up to 23 kg (50 lbs) each on flights to destinations outside of Europe.

What is the excess baggage allowance with Air France?

In general, if a passenger exceeds their checked baggage allowance, they will be charged an additional fee for each excess piece of baggage or for each kilogram (2.2 lbs) over the allowed weight.

The fee for excess baggage can vary depending on the route and destination under the Air France baggage policy.

• Please take note that each passenger is only permitted to check up to 10 bags total—10 total bags, not including any additional bags.

• Between Europe and the Middle East or Asia-Pacific
  •  The standard fare for the first piece is between USD 65 to USD 71.For the second piece, it goes up to USD 87.

• Between Miami and Pointe-à-Pitre (Air France)
  • For the second piece, it goes up to USD 265.
  • For the three-plus pieces, the price goes above USD 473.

• Other Long-haul Flights
  • For the second piece, it goes up to USD 65.
  • For the three-plus pieces, the price goes above USD 174.

Oversized Baggage – If the size of your luggage is greater than 158 cm (62.2 in.) but not 300 cm (118 in.), you will have to pay an extra cost at the airport.

• 158 cm (62.2 in) to 300 cm (118 in) of luggage must be checked at the “Oversized Baggage” desk.
• Please get in touch with Air France Cargo if the size of your luggage exceeds 300 cm/118 in.

What is the Policy for Missing or Damaged Baggage?

Depending on your airport of arrival, the airline provides two ways to report lost baggage:

1) Report missing baggage

Passengers can request Air France missing baggage request online as well as over the phone.

Method 1: You can declare a missing bag online

Within 48 hours after the arrival of your flight, please fill out the form below or use the Air France app to report lost luggage. Please look for your luggage receipt to accomplish this.

•  If you complete Air France flight check in at the airport, one of the airline’s representatives will give you your receipt there.
• Your receipt number may be found on the Luggage Receipt website and on the confirmation email that was provided to you if you printed your boarding pass and baggage tags at home.
• Once your request has been filed, you will be given a claim number.
• To keep track of the progress of your request, keep your claim number handy.

Method 2: You can declare a missing bag at the airport.

All you need is –

• Go to the AIR FRANCE KLM* luggage office if you haven’t already departed your airport of arrival.
• Make sure to complete a form called a Property Irregularity Report before you depart the airport (PIR).
• Once your request has been filed, you will be given a claim number.
• Keep your claim number handy so you can check on the progress of your luggage search.

2) Track your request

Using our online baggage tracker, you may monitor the status of your lost baggage claim in real-time. Use the claim number provided to you when you filed your online form or by one of the airlines’ representatives at the airport to do this.

3) Claims on necessity purchases

You have 21 days from the day you get your luggage to file a compensation request if you have incurred essential costs (such as the purchase of clothing or hygiene goods) as a result of the loss of your luggage. Please complete the online refund form.

Keep all of your receipts since you could be required to turn them in.

What Should You Do in the Event that Your Luggage is Missing?

Please sign in and complete the inventory and request forms using the online baggage tracker tool if your luggage has not been located after 72 hours have passed from your request.

Please provide as much information as you can about the contents of your lost luggage, including the cost of each article of clothing, pair of shoes, or other items, etc.

What is the allowance related to sports, musicals, & other special items?

As per Air France baggage policy, passengers can carry sports equipment, musical instruments, and other special items, regardless of the fare type and class of service selected.

Sports Baggage- Your equipment must not exceed 23 kilograms (50 lb) or 32 kg (70 lb) in the Business or La Première cabins, and it doesn’t exceed 300 cm (118 in) in total size. In some circumstances, you will need to obtain prior consent from our customer service team. Air France checked baggage fee may apply.

Special Baggage- As long as you follow specific transportation regulations, you may move oversized objects, musical instruments, and other special luggage items.

Child Baggage- It has 2 categories underneath:

1. If your child is 2 years or older – Your youngster is permitted the same amount of luggage as an adult. Depending on their travel cabin and ticket class, a person is only allowed to bring a certain amount and weight of luggage.
2. If your child is under 2 years – Your youngster may bring as many bags as are allowed by the ticket fare. If a seat has been allocated for them. These rules apply if your youngster is riding on your lap while you’re driving:
   • A handbag that weighs up to 12 kg (26.4 lb) and whose dimensions do not exceed 55 cm (21 inches) by 35 cm (13 inches) by 25 cm (9) may be brought on board.
   • A carry-on item weighing up to 10 kg, a car seat, and a folding stroller or baby carrier are allowed in the hold. Air France baggage fees would be levied.
